Bower, suspended in a skylight in the atrium of a hospital, welcomes patients, staff, and visitors. Based on the trees in the garden just outside, the artwork extends the garden indoors, creating an uplifting and inviting entry.

As the hospital's focus is on the individual patient, I used individual trees from the garden for the basis of the work. I photographed the trees in the garden and transformed those images of leafy branches into laser cut aluminum. Inspired by the sheltering gesture of the branches of a large, old Beech tree in the garden, the sculpture's elements are suspended in a circular, bower-like arrangement around the outer edge of the skylight.
